What Do You Need To Know Before You Purchase A Taser?

Tasers are appearing in the media more and more often. Police have found that these devices are very useful when it comes to controlling uncooperative suspects in a non-lethal manner. In addition, regular consumers are purchasing Tasers for their own personal self-defense. Many times the media uses the terms "stun gun" and "Taser" to mean the same thing. This is inaccurate. A Taser works by shooting electrodes onto the assailant. These electrodes are tethered to the device. On the other hand, a stun gun works by touching the actual device to the assailant in order to connect the two attached electrodes.

Do Tazzers Work: Watch The Video Before Buying A Taser Online?

How Tasers Work

A Taser, sometimes called an Air Taser, is a type of stun gun. Once fired, the gun uses compressed nitrogen to propel two darts which are attached to the device with 15 feet of thin wire. The fired darts attach to the clothing of the subject, where they deliver 50,000 volts that are transmitted via the wires. The assailant will fall to the ground in pain. Because the device uses low amperage, the effects of the jolt are temporary and the subject will sustain no permanent damage. To deliver the shock, a Taser uses a timer mechanism. The electrical current in a Taser uses a preset sequence. Each cycle has a total of 30 seconds consisting of 7 seconds of current followed by breaks of 1.8 seconds. This ensures that the subject's nervous system is unable to recover quickly, and they are not able to pull the probes off their clothing.

Tasers work. In the field, they are almost 100% effective. An Air Taser does not damage muscles, nerves, or anything else on the body. Traditional stun guns require that you make direct contact with an assailant. With a Taser, you can defend yourself from a distance of up to 15 feet. Always ensure that, like any other self-defense product, you are careful with the application of this device.

A Taser or conducted electrical weapon (CEW) is an electroshock defense item sold by Taser International. It fires two little dart-like electrodes, which stay attached to the primary unit by wires, to distribute electric current to interrupt intended control of muscles producing "neuromuscular incapacitation".  An attacker hit by a Taser receives stimulation of their sensory nerves and motor nerves, resulting in robust uncontrolled muscle contractions. Unlike stun guns Tasers do not depend only on pain obedience, except when used in the secondary "Stun" mode, for this reason TASERS are preferred by most law enforcement over non-Taser stun guns and other electronic control devices.

Do TASERS work on everyone?

A person who has received a Taser jolt will spend several minutes in a dazed state. The pulsing current of electricity makes muscles contract involuntarily, which gives the subject vertigo. It will incapacitate or knock out the attacker in a matter of seconds. However, the low amperage used and the short length of each pulse of electrical current ensures that the device is non-lethal. In addition, there will be no long-term effects or permanent damage to the nerves, muscles, or any other bodily functions.

No one has been discovered that is “immune" to a TASER; since its effects are caused by the closed loop of an electrical circuit, the muscle tightening is a spontaneous response. It's like getting punched in the nose, your eyes tear and nose runs as an unconscious response to the punch. However, some people are able to tolerate the pain better than others but the muscular reaction to the electrical shock is not something that can be controlled or repelled. Legend has it that Tasers may even work on zombies. Get more information here

Where To Buy A Taser Online; Can civilians own a TASER?

Yes civilians can own a TASER Gun; however,  there are restrictions in following states: New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and the following U.S. cities: CHICAGO, IL, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA and PHILADELPHIA check laws here

Do TASERS work on a dog or animals in general?

TASERS happen to be proven to become a highly effective option for coping with aggressive animals and also have generally been effective on dogs.  Most animals happen to be disabled or stunned, but recover instantly when the TASER cycle has ended.  Some dogs, however, don't try to escape and may become aggressive. Deployments which were not successful on animals are usually the effect of a single probe impact. If an animal is stunned, consider getting animal control involved to use a restraint throughout the cycle.

Question: After initial probes have been deployed; is the back-up a direct contact taser or projectile?

Answer: Your secondary options are to pull the trigger again to send another charge cycle down the initial probes, remove the first cartridge and reload another cartridge, or use the contact stun "drive stun".

yes it can be used as direct contact stun gun after deployment and the 30 seconds has passed all you would do is easily detach the cartridge and it will be a stun gun or quickly attach a new live cartridge if you have any on you to use as a taser again if needed.

Back up is DC.

After probe contact trigger can be pulled multiple times while still in contact over and over again if no contact or you need to move to another target cartridge can be remove and then the taser would operate as a stun gun up close

Question: How long can the battery hold charge for if stored?

Answer: The taser pulse comes with a lithium battery that is good for 50 firings there is no information available for how long it can be stored

2 years but i would strongly suggest you plug it in every few months.

I personally own a C2, and it uses a very similar battery setup. I tested an "Expired" Cartdrige and battery after 10 years of it being in my wifes purse, it still drove the barbs into a 2x4 and sent sparks flying everywhere. hope that helps.

Question: How many volts?

Answer: 50,000 volts at 7 watts.

Question: I'm interested on buying this device, i want to know what permissions do i need in order to buy this? and also if it is in fact a distance weapon or

Answer: Check ur state legal in most shoots 15 feet away

15 feet is the max it will go, but i would always reccomend atleast 12 to 10 feet. it is very effective and a powerful taser but also reliable. every state has a different law but im pretty sure any state allows you to have and carry this device for protection and security. i suggest you google the laws in your state for better output. i highly reccomend you get this taser..  see less

Hello-- I would be glad to provide you with the Taser guide to state-by-state laws and regulations regarding Taser products. Please message me here on Amazon and I will respond with that document. Amy @ 855Sheller

Definitely check your state laws. It's counter-intuitive I know, but since tasers (and stun guns) aren't covered by the 2nd Amend (though they should be) owning and using one can have greater legal repercussions than having a firearm. The same applies to pepper spray and edged weapons.

Question: Battery not chargeable then how long does the battery last?

Answer: The Pulse CEW's battery has enough power for approximately 50 30-second firings depending on temperature,
environment, and other factors. The battery will deplete faster in colder weather than in warm weather. Left to
itself in normal storage conditions, the battery has a two-year life.
The power LED is located below the rear sight. An illuminated LED indicates the trigger switch is ARMED. A green
LED indicates a "good" battery.
An orange LED indicates a "low" battery. In some conditions, especially low temperature (−4 °F/−20 °C) the LED
may display orange even if the battery has sufficient charge left.

Question: Can you buy extra cartridges? How many times you can use this?

Answer: Yes you can. they come in packs of 2 or 4

Comes with two extra cartridges are $75 for a two pack

thats a great question, yes you can buy extra cartridges Each cartridge fires once, so it's a good idea to keep extra cartridges on hand. this model comes with 2 live cartridges. TASERs are designed with your safety in mind. Upon firing and striking your attacker, the TASER Bolt and TASER Pulse deliver 30 seconds of electric energy into the attacker's body giving you time to drop the device and get to safety while the attacker is still being shocked. All TASER devices come with a Safe Escape Product Replacement Guarantee in the U.S. If you ever have to use your TASER to defend yourself and must leave it behind, the manufacturer, Taser International, will replace it free of charge once you've sent a police report of the incident. I sell the cartridges if you need any.  see less

Question: If you shoot out a cartidge will it be done forever?

Answer: Yes - one shot = one use. You can buy training cartridges for practice (they're blue).
