Toting a Collapsible Self-defence Metal Baton

One item that should have an important place in any self-defence arsenal is a sturdy collapsible self-defence baton, also called a billystick, cosh or blackjack. These self defence tools are easy to operate and compact for toting convenience  although, due to the physical nature of the baton, some training would be advisable. A collapsible baton has been found most effective as a deterrent in all non firearm related assaults.

Law enforcement, military personnel and even security officers routinely use the collapsible batons as part of their necessary equipment. Many varieties can be fitted with special features at the hilt, for example a flashlight or a pointed snub for breaking glass and gaining access to fire extinguishers escaping in and out of buildings.

A self-defence baton is a perfect implement for defending from an aggressor and can effectively disable an opponent giving a victim a chance to escape. Striking at the legs and arms will inflict sufficient pain to thwart an attack and can prevent the aggressor from making pursuit. With proper training it is possible to learn many techniques to subdue, control and deactivate any aggressor.

The implement we describe here is the simple retractable or collapsible type baton. The baton works like the old fashioned telescopes, with each segment sliding in and out of the segment larger, this allows the baton to be extended with all speed. The collapsed baton is easily hidden and only about 7 to 9 inches long, yet still provide the protection of a 16-26 inch assault deterrent.

The simplicity of the collapsible metal baton is excellent practice for training the muscles of the arm and hand to deliver the strike and learning other more advanced maneuvers in the future.  Collapsible metal batons also make good tools for emergency use as well, one in the car and another for carrying about while walking the dog or taking long hikes; to complete the protection pepper spray packs a punch.
